Welcome. Tell us about yourself !

Welcome to "Good Changes" - the Blog supporting our class as we explore "Getting Started with Technology in My Classroom." As we start our first session, please click the Comment button and leave a message telling us something about yourself (you may need to create a Google or Blogger account first) - for example: What's your name? Where did you teach this past year? What grade level/subjects? What have been your experiences with using technology in the past? What do you hope to gain from this class? What are your plans for the summer?

Hi, my name is Dick Oostenink. I will be the instructor for this class. For the past 9 years I have worked for the Van Andel Education Institute studying and experimenting about how Instructional Technology may be used effectively to enrich teaching and learning. When this week of classes is over my work and the Van Andel Institute will end. After a relaxing summer I will start work again at the same school system where I started teaching almost 40 years ago. I look forward to working with you.

My name is Nancy Banks.I currently teach a community based training class. My students are 17-24. We work at various businesses around the west side that allow us to train my students on job skills. We also do a lot of class work using functional academics. My students are cognitively impaired. I hope to have a few computers in my class next year so we can look for jobs online and help my students become more familiar with computers. I plan on taking a few more classes this summer, going to Texas and just relaxing.

My name is Dori DeVuyst. I have been the art teacher at Aberdeen and Stocking for the past two years. I am in the process of getting my Master's Degree in Integrating Technology into the Classroom through Walden University. My technology experience is average, I have an Associates degree in Graphic Design and use the computer on a regular basis for classes and personal use. I hope to find new and interesting ways to teach art so the students stay interested. My plans for the summer are to relax, take many trips, and spend time at home with my pets.

My name is Louise Schoen. I teach 4th grade at Covell Elementary. This is my 17th year with GRPS. I started at Buchanan, then East Leonard, then West Leonard, and I hope to stay at Covell until I retire. My youngest is starting WMU this fall, so I won't be retiring anytime soon. By the way, does anyone have a cheap, reliable car for sale so she can find a summer job? I will be busy getting my house ready to sell and plan to take a few day trips. I think this class is going to be fun!

This class should be an adventure as well.

We are to recieve a new (as in, just completed construction)building, and it will have all of the newest technological devices and automation available. This class will help me to use all of that new equipment. Then maybe I can help others in the building learn how to use it as well.
